One of the things that amazes me with my dad is his incredible gift of 'self-learning'. He came from a small farming town and graduated a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Although he never had formal education on computer, programming and web design he knows how to do it! According to him, its a hobby. And because of work (his business selling agricultural equipment) he can't work on his hobby and finish our website.
We even have our own family .com and personalized email addresses. I seldom use it though because I was so used with my yahoo address and all my contacts know that address so I never changed it. Anyway, daddy was looking for a freelance web designer lately so that our website will be updated and 'beautified'.
Dad already accepted the fact that he cannot work on the site no matter how much he wanted to because he simply has no time anymore. My dad at 55 years old is still hard working as ever. Imagine, he comes home at around 10PM daily from work? (he works at home so basically the line is blurred but still...)
I've posted a few ads looking for good freelance web designers and I've not really found one just yet. I would check it out definitely, and maybe in time when I get the time I will also learn basics of programming and web designing. In our house alone, we have a dozen laptops and personal computers! It is because every 6 months or so dad finds a need to get a new one, a better one. Sheesh. I've stopped counting years ago. But its for the better, running a business with as much branches it is vital to be always connected to stay in touch.
