Jealous

Ozzy's so cute.

Whenever he sees me and his daddy kiss or hug or be sweet to each other he would giggle. The type of laugh that's forced - then after he would go up to us and ask his dad to leave.

He's jealous and its super nice to feel so loved.

Guilty Feeling

For most people losing weight and dieting is a constant struggle. I am pretty sure losing all the weight is hard but keeping that weight off is much harder. Especially now that its the Holidays and everyone is preparing such scrumptious meals.

Tonight I am looking forward to eating, eating and more eating! But with eating comes the guilty feeling afterward. Did you know that when I was younger and still single I struggled with my weight. It kept on ballooning and then going down. I am lucky now because I have a toddler and he keeps me busy and mobile all the time. He is my personal exercise machine. I am not super skinny, but I am not really THAT fat either.

My problem areas include my arms and tummy only. That's why I still looked into the best and most effective diet pills around. It's hard to just go about drinking pills without researching and asking your doctor about it first. Especially for me when I am still nursing my 2 year old.

Yup, he still nurses from me. My goal for 2009 is that he completely stops nursing already. I think he is ready. But were going to take it slow. And yes, I've been talking about weaning him for awhile now and believe me, its not that simple.

Wish us luck! Or should I say, wish me luck - as I've said he's my own personal exercise machine. Without him I may need those pills now.

ASL Please

Girls oftentimes cut their hair when #1 They just came from a breakup and #2 When its New year (for a new look!). A friend of mine was contemplating on her new look for 2009 where she can attract the opposite sex's attention. I told her that she doesn't have to try very much because she gorgeous already. The reason why she doesn't have a serious relationship is that boy's get intimidated by her.

No worries, I reassured her. In this day and age, there are a million ways to meet and greet new faces and new circles. Social networking sites are abundant in the wide wide super wide world of the web. She can also meet a lot of guys in her current job where she is expected to travel. Also, if she gets bored at night or whenever she can always try some of those new and Free Local Chat.

I personally think there is nothing wrong with meeting and falling in love online as long as you get to know the person first before going into a much more serious relationship. I know a lot of couples who met online and lived happily ever after - remember the movie You've Got Mail?

When I was still younger and very much available I was also into chatting and going into forums to meet new friends, there's nothing wrong with that. In fact it was fun. We used to say, "ASL please?!" Lol. Is that still the case now!? I wonder.

Backing Up

In less than 10 hours it would be 2009 already. I just feel like time zoomed by. I guess its true what they say, if your busy and enjoying life then it would go very fast. So enjoy everyday and live life to the fullest.

In 2009 - I intend to do just that!

But for now, even though I still lack sleep from all the karaoke and vodka - I have to back up all my important files and pictures before anything bad happens to them. I still haven't printed much of these photos so I'd better not delay backing up and burning them into a disk.

Wordless Wednesday : Dad & I

Car Troubles

Big oops, our insurance agent was reminding me about some new auto insurance quotes that she would like to have me look into. Unfortunately, due to my hectic schedule this holiday season I completely forgot about it.

Good thing she reminded me again or else it would have completely skipped my mind. I told her to hold our meeting until the first or even second week of January because I really can't make time now.

Sometimes its a hassle having a car, with all the car troubles and maintenance it needs. However, during this time when everyone is busy and in a hurry; I can't help thanking the Lord that we have our own vehicle.

Longest Holiday

....Ozzy has been to Siquijor and back, been to the beach two times this week alone, have met lots of uncles and aunties, grandparents and distant relatives. Good thing that form the time his dad came home from Norway until now, he has not gotten sick.

Although I think fruit salad (with lots of cream) is not good for him. He has vomited four times during this season - both times he ate fruit salad hours before that. I'm taking extra percussion especially during this time, not to mention its rainy here in Cebu and it would be terrible if he would get sick with flu now.

Anyway, more pictures of our island hopping, family day at the beach and Siquijor trip when I can. For now I got to dress up for my friends (Ken and Ebbe's) double birthday bash.

P.S. I am SO loving the loooong holiday.

Moving On

A friend of mine was telling me about this new site where its free to chat with many different people from all over the world. She said that ever since F left to go abroad, she felt lonely and that going online has been a good escape for her.

I am for her happiness so whatever makes her happy; I will support her. I just warned her to be wary of the people she meet and just have fun so that she can move on. She's young and beautiful so she should not rush and just enjoy her freedom while she still can.

I've heard about Free Black Chat which is a place online for blacks to meet and chat. I teased her, why not try? They say, when you go Black you'll never go back.

I was kidding of course.

Daddy's Back

He's back!!!

It felt surreal at first - and weird. I felt butterflies in my stomach while waiting for him outside the airport. When I finally saw his face, all the anxiety was swept away.

He's finally home.

Ozzy was sleeping when we arrived home. A few minutes later he woke up, a bit dazed, stared at his Dad looking confused and hugged ME tight. I guess he was a bit scared and confused if that was a dream.

Slowly he smiled and hugged his dad.*so cute*

Earlier, when Josh had to leave to do some errands in POEA, Ozzy cried and cried, saying he wanted to go with his father. (I guess he was scared he'd be left too long again) I assured him Dad won't take long and that he'll come back soon.

Now I am worried that we would have a hard time leaving him tomorrow when we would go to our weekend getaway. Its the very first time in all Ozzy's life that I would not sleep beside him.

Hopefully, it will all be okay.

Looking forward to our Nature Trip

I knew I should have never psyched myself up for that Badian Nature Trip. Due to uncontrollable reasons our 2-day trip to the North of Cebu won't push through. Although mother said that we can still go but only for a day and we can't stay overnight because we do not have reservations. We are going to have our Reunion for the New Year so that's why, my mother's side of the family is planning all sorts of outdoorsy activities for my cousins and relatives.

Too bad, I was really hoping to catch some sun and do a little trekking while up there. Even though I am not your usual "outdoorsy" type of gal, I don't mind a little adventure to spice things up. I may not have any Outdoor Gear except for my sunblock lotion (does that even count?!) I don't mind shopping for new gear.

Which reminds of the North Face Sale I've come across online while window shopping for new shoes. No biggie, even though the trip was cut short to a one-day event I can easily make use of the gear some other time.

North Face is a good Brand being offered by Mountain Gear which has stylish yet functional women's clothing, gear and footwear. I am especially eying those wonderfully warm jackets for hubby knowing well how Norway can be bitterly cold during the winter. Anyway, will still keep a lookout though, but I am happy I have many options here.

Ow, hubby is due to arrive in 3 hours!! Can't wait!

Again and again....and AGAIN.

We are watching the Best of Barney DVD - again for the nth time. Ozzy loves it and if he behaves after his dinner and bath I usually let him watch.

I remember when I was young, me and my cousins used to watch The Little Mermaid and Sleeping Beauty over and over again day in and day out without getting bored with it.

How come kids are like that? They can watch something or read a book over and over without getting bored with it, unlike when you're bigger you tend to read books once, watch movies once etc etc (unless its really good like Pretty Woman or Love Actually ehehe)

Sometimes I miss being a kid again.

Ozzy and Diego

Photobucket

Ozzy loves his new toy - a Diego Doll.

He loves the show Dora the Explorer and Go, Diego Go because (in my opinion) it features lots of different animals and their adventures. I appreciate the fact that the show makes it a point to teach the viewers about the animals featured in the show in a fun way.

I can see my son learning more and more about the different animal species and how they interact with each other in the wild. Although watching to much videos and TV shows is not encouraged - I can't help but spoil him when it comes to shows like these where he clearly learns and enjoys from it as well.

Quote My Home

With the USA's recession all over the news, many wary about the idea of owning a home. Renting is always an option to many, but when you have a growing family under your belt like me, it is always nice to invest - not just in a house, but a home for the family.

Hubby and I were looking for a nice house and lot online and as much as I love the existing houses, I can't help but dream about owning a dream house that I designed or helped design by myself. You see, each one of us have different preferences when it comes to house design. For example, I would like my house to have lots of open space and big windows so that it would not become stuffy inside. I would also like a big garden and lawn. A terrace and also a big walk in closet. (Its free to dream right?!)

So the first question that pops into our head after dreaming of such a home!? "How much would that dream house cost me."

Good thing an on-your-lot Custom Home Builder based in Canton, Ohio called Schumacher Homes has launched Schumacher Homes Press that features 'QUOTE MY HOME NOW!' Software Application for those couples and individuals looking for that very important figure. Investing in a house and home is a big decision, and it is a very helpful guide and tool for all.

Random Stuff

I can't wait to see Ozzy's expression when his dad will walk through the door almost 24 hours from now...

Hopefully, he would be ecstatic - and not all shy and weird considering they have not seen each other for almost 5 months.

Anyway, Ozzy was all sweet to his dad when they talked on Skype last night. It sure would be fun when Josh will be here talking to Ozzy for real, the last time when he was still here, Ozzy was not so talkative yet.

Avoiding Misbehaviour

I've been reading a lot about avoiding misbehavior in toddlers and tips in dealing with tantrums because my boy is at a stage where he really tests my patience (most of the time!) lol.

I found very helpful advise from RollerCoaster.ie

Avoiding Misbehavior

  • Plan Ahead
Thinking about situations in advance can do a lot to avoid and reduce potential conflicts. For example making sure your child has brought some entertaining activities on a long train journey or planning a positive way for him to be involved in a shopping trip, could avoid tantrums and frustration.

  • Have Good Routines
Good clear routines around bedtime, mealtimes, homework etc, which make it clear about what is happening and what is expected can really avoid problems. Sit down and plan the routines you want to build up in your family. Remember children can take a while to settle into new routines.

  • Talk Problems Through
In the long term it is best to talk problems through with children and help them find more positive ways of behaving. This is best done away from a conflict situation when everyone is calm. Remember when talking things through it is best to listen to the child first, going slowly to understand their point of view and feelings before helping them think of other ways of behaving.

Handling Misbehavior
  • Ignore Misbehavior
Many parents inadvertently encourage misbehavior by giving it attention e.g. giving out, shouting, nagging etc. Simply by ignoring a lot of misbehavior will disappear. Remember to go out of your way to notice the opposite positive behavior that you want!

  • Use choices and consequences
Rather than nagging children when they misbehave, give them a choice about a consequence. For example 'Either you clean your toys away now or they will be taken off you for the day - it's your choice' or 'Either you come in now for tea or you will miss your favorite TV program tonight'

  • Be Consistent
If you do give a child a consequence to a rule, be prepared to enforce it. When they know you won't give in, problems will reduce.

  • Be Calm
All discipline problems are best managed in a firm but calm way. It is very tempting to get upset or have a go at a child but this doesn't work and leaves parent and child upset. If you feel yourself getting angry it may be best to withdraw, calm down, and then deal with the situation: 'I'm too upset to talk about what happened, I will deal with you later about it'

Most Important!!!!
Be kind to yourself as a parent

Though very effective positive discipline is hard work. You need to be positive and consistent for a long time. It's hard to do this if you feel tired or low. That's why it is very important for parents to be kind to themselves and to look their own needs.

It is important to find activities you can enjoy or relaxing, or to make sure you keep in touch with good friends and family. Basically by looking after yourself you are looking after your child. The more relaxed and refreshed you feel the more calm positive and consistent you will be.

Manic Monday#146

Have you ever returned an item to a store for a refund after having used it?
Nope. Never; if I intend to return an item I make it a point to bring it back the way I bought it.

You are going out for the evening. If your partner objects to what you are wearing, would you change your clothing?
Usually, no. The reason why guys object the clothes we were is because its too sexy or revealing, I don't wear clothes like that anymore (unless I start drinking some diet pills then maybe...lol) so he seldom objects.

What item that you don’t currently possess would you most like to have in your home?
Hmmm...Home Theater System installed in my room. Wait..I'll need a bigger room for that! Better work on that one too. heehee

No Deal - Mommy!

After lunch is usually Ozzy's nap time. I would be off from work until 1:30PM so I make it a point to put him to sleep by 1:00PM. It was already past 1 and Ozzy felt like playing some more so I said,"C'mon baby let's go to sleep, Mommy will let you dede." *when dede/nursing is mentioned he usually drops everything and grabs the chance anytime he gets it*

This time though was different, he looked up at me, smiled his mischievous smile and said," No deal mommy!" Complete with hand gestures pa!

Aba. Marunong na pala mag-negotiate.

Weekend Snapshot : Mesmerized

My boy and I went to watch Diego and the Iguana Sing-along show in Ayala Center's Entertainment area. Even though we had to wait 45 minutes before the show started, Ozzy was well-behaved all that time, patiently waiting for the show to start.

Photobucket

Ozzy was mesmerized, never moving, intently watching his fave - Diego. The whole time (about 20 minutes from start to end) he was like this.

Add to my List

I really really would love to own an ITouch. My sister has one so I get to borrow it occasionally. I love how you can download video streams and watch it from there. There are also lots of games and other added features.

I am addicted to video streaming nowadays you know. I seldom go out of the house because I work at home, Ozzy is here and the husband is away. So, what keeps me sane during days when I have nothing else better to do are those videos.

But of course, money does not grow on trees and unless I get one of those payday loans (which is quick and easy by the way) I can never afford one now.

But, since its Christmas and I am hoping my Santa is reading this - I don't mind another gift.

Got Cash?

My dad, who also happens to be my employer heavily sighed one time when we were having lunch. The Christmas bonuses has just been released so I was pretty liquid. Dad, on the other hand, wished he could say the same.

With the holiday fast approaching, people find themselves spending more and more each day. There a presents to buy, outfits to parties and for some travel expenses. When cash become tight and other unforeseen expenses pop up, one can always rely on cash advance s or loans.

Luckily there are many different financial establishments that offer loans up to $2,500. Some don't even need much requirements, all we need to do is apply online and our loan can be approved in as short as 24 hours.

I better tell Dad about this maybe it will help him this season.

Skywatch Friday#21 : Bridges

Photobucket

I took this photo last Tuesday, around 4 in the afternoon. We were in a boat, slowly approaching Cebu City. I love this picture because of the beautiful sky and as a bonus, you can actually see the 2 major bridges of Cebu. The old and far off is the new Mactan Bridge that connects the province of Cebu to the Island of Mactan.

Happy Sky watching guys! Join us here

Clean Car

Whitey, our car, is scheduled for another body wash, engine wash and carpet vacuuming. I swear, it irks me when the car is dirty.

The last time I had it cleaned my sister managed to spill cola all over the seat and carpet minutes after I said (in a happy cheerful mode),"Finally, the car is clean, I am so happy!". Woooosh...canned soda spilling all over the place.

My goodness. Eternal klutz of a sister.

Now I am thinking of getting a handy vacuum or maybe one of those Sebo vacuum cleaners so that I can do the cleaning myself.

Checklist

Before the weekend rush, I just want to make a list of things I need to get done for the weekend so that I don't get sidetracked and miss out on what needs to be accomplished.

  1. Have pictures printed (long overdue SG trip and some of Ozzy's pics)
  2. Look for (and possibly buy) gifts for the aunties, uncles and grandparents.
  3. Canvass for kids outdoor toys (slide or whatever). Someone wants to buy him these as a gift.

  4. This one a Wave Climber is around $179.99

This Swing Along Castle is $119.99
    Source: Little Tikes

  5. Look for a leather jacket & sturdy shoes for Hubby (long overdue! Sorry Chi)
  6. Look for a gift for Hubby's twin, mom and dad.
  7. Have my hair treated. I have already set up the appointment 2PM at Tony & Jackey's. I just want to make sure I look my best when Hubby arrives (in 12 days!!!)
  8. ..and tons more little errands to run.
A relaxing Vegas vacations sure sounds perfect this time, but I have to wait. Soon enough when we have a lot saved up Hubby & I can have a proper honeymoon.

Sepia Scenes #7

sepiascene.jpg

Photobucket

I took this picture last Tuesday when we were heading home to Cebu back from Ormoc. The boat looks really old (because its actually old! lol) and I can't help take a snapshot of it. Many of the boats here in the Philippines look like that and some even worse.

More Sepia Scenes, here.

Bad Credit

I was told by a friend that more and more houses in the States are left abandoned by owners because they cannot afford the mortgages anymore. I never really realized the severity of the situation all over the world because I am one of the lucky few who enjoy a comfortable life. I was not born with silver spoon but I am happy to say we live a simple and good life.

I only live within my means and I never find myself swimming in debt because I don't have one. I guess this is also because I never found credit cards enticing. I receive about 3 calls everyday offering me credit card or personal loan saying its easy to apply etc. etc but I never really give in knowing that when I do start using the card, interest rates pile up and if I don't pay the bank right away, I might be paying double later because of the interest. It is easy to get a credit card nowadays, requirements are at its minimum.

But how do we know which card to get if eve we do decide to get one? I am guilty of deciding which card by what freebies they offer not minding how much they charge for the interest. However, knowing that I realized, that before deciding on the best credit card for you, its best to see what out there first. But, what about those people have a bad credit credit cards history? Do they still have a choice of the best credit card for them? Of course they do and it is advisable to shop around first for the best credit offer that fits their needs, regardless of a bad credit history.

.

Go..Diego, GO!

Finally got tickets to Diego the Explorer's Live performance in Ayala Mall Cebu this Sunday. When I called up the office yesterday, I was told there were a few seats left so Ozzy and I went to Ayala and got the tickets.
Photobucket

It was actually free for every single purchase of about Php500.00 for dry goods and Php2,000.00 for the groceries. I am excited to see Ozzy's face when he sees his favorite cartoon character live singing and dancing.

My sister even got him a Diego doll over the weekend. Ozzy brings his mini-me everywhere he goes, talking to him making sure he is seated properly when they watch TV. When its time for bed, they would sleep side by side in the bed and I would be asked (politely) by Ozzy to go to the other bed.

Aw....my sons all grown up.

I am glad. Time for a younger brother or sister?

Get Well Soon Yaya

I just want to vent out something - I am a bit annoyed with Ozzy's yaya because she's sick with colds, because of that I was swamped with housework and office work yesterday and today. When asked why she got colds, it was because she got wet in the rain when she rode the motorcycle going home.

You see when we went to Leyte I allowed her to go home to Samar to be with her family, when she came back she was sick. I am not mean so I let her rest and all, but I just can't help get annoyed by the fact that she let herself get sick. She was asleep yesterday (in the boat and car) and today. Even I still work when sick! Arrgg, I am just venting out here. Super duper swamped with lots of things to finish.

In 5 minutes I'd have to go down and take a break - for now, I need to call up my Insurance Agent for new insurance quotes for Hubby.

Hoping yaya will get better tomorrow, I can't go on without rest any longer.

Bar Faucets

My aunt's place in Tacloban is a work in progress. When we came by there the other day, I instantly loved her kitchen. It was slightly elevated than the rest of the area, and it had a counter and a mini bar in place.

I quickly noted that design thinking that someday I'll add something like that in my own dream house. I can imagine sitting there having a party or gathering. Its like we don't have to go out anymore to the bars, we'll take the bar in our own home. Maybe install some bar faucets for added authenticity.

I can't wait.
