One week before Hubby was scheduled to fly back to Norway he decided he needed to visit the Optometrist to have his eyes checked. Too much exposure to laptop and PC screens has left him with headaches and sometimes eye sore. We went to a reliable Optometrist whose also a family friend, however we did not anticipate it would cost us so much. He bought one that looks something like this:
Since Hubby was in a hurry he just said yes and did not bother anymore to look for a cheaper pair of eyeglasses. We found out he had astigmatism in his left eye that's causing him the headaches. The cost of the frame, plus the glasses with the grade and add to that some fancy coating = high cost of his glasses. If we just scooped around some more and if I have remembered the article on New York Times maybe we could have saved a bit of money. There are a lot of other options when purchasing a pair of glasses as long as you know what you need and what you don't. It's okay to scrimp on the frames but never on the glass! That's what's important for me.
Oh well, at least now I know my options, pros and cons. The important thing is that Hubby now has his glasses. At least, his eyesight will not worsen anymore that necessary.
