90% of the time Ozzy is a good, well-mannered little boy.
10% of the time though this little monster takes over my sweet baby and tests my patience. Just earlier, he was punished for hitting me with a plastic empty water bottle and then after crying asking for water only to spit it out on me.
Now, you may ask what brought this on?
He was running around the house happily carrying with him the empty water bottle when he tripped and fell. Most times, when he does fall, trip or hurt himself we just tell him to stand up and its okay..etc..he would normally just stand up and continue running but this time was different. I guess he felt embarrassed because there was many people around or it was not his day at all.
He came to me crying (I was eating lunch) and hit me with the water bottle! There was no one to blame for his fall so he decided it was my fault. I reprimanded him and told him to stop crying or else I will have to punish him for 5minutes. He did stop, asked for water, then spit it out, getting my clothes wet.
This time I was already angry.
So, I had him sit on the corner for 5 minutes. He was crying loudly asking for me to carry him with pleading eyes. I told him that he wasn't being a good boy and he is being punished for what he did.
After 5 minutes he seemed to have understood, stopped crying and quietly said he would be a good boy already. I told him never to do that again and that hitting is not good. He simply nodded.
As much as I can I will not resort to spanking, but sometimes, as evil as it may seem I am tempted to do so. My parent's commented that Ozzy is still lucky because if it was up to them, they won't think twice about spanking when the child misbehaves. Of course, my sister and I can attest to that. We were spanked when we were kids and we turned out okay. Time outs seem to be working for now so I will stick to that.
I won't be saying NO to spanking but I will keep an open mind about it.
