With the continuing global economic crunch more and more people have been laid-off from their jobs. Factories are closing, even big companies like Intel which is known to be a leader in silicon innovation was forced to closed down its site in Cavite, Manila. Because of this many are left jobless and left feeling hopeless too. Some live through on cash loans hoping that their luck will change in a few month and more jobs might open up.
I once gasped at the large amount of grocery items at the checkout line. Prices of basic commodities have gone way up over the months. People need to do what they have to do just to make ends meet; some get a higher paying job usually abroad, others get a second job or a sideline and well... others simple cut back. Non-essentials for me like Spa, Manicure/Pedicure or dining out is scrapped off the list. My point is - when times are hard like it is now, we don't have to spend spend spend. As long as we live within our means and buy only what is essential we can get by for sure. Of course this should be coupled with hard work.
Personally, my suggestion is to not be too caught up with consumerism. There are lots of ways to cut back expenses. Staying at home instead of the wandering the malls is a good start.
